Hi all, I hope everyones well. I am looking for some advice on the first layer of my next oil painting. I have noticed that numerous artists place a monochromatic/underpainting layer as the first step in creating their pieces. I would like to try such a technique which this next piece. I am looking for advice on where to go with this, ie which colour to use as the undertone. I noticed some people using ochres, and others greyscale...i am interested in knowing the benefits of each of these, Im someone who can help me could spare a few minutes to reply, i would be greatly appreciative, Cheers, Harry

Hi all, im looking to try and add some depth to my work by adding shadows to the paintings. I've never bothered to in the past, so i was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding this. cheers harry

Hi all, I am trying to organise an exhibition for next year sometime. This will be my first show, and it's a requirement by the venue that I have the works for sale. Ideally, I would like to reserve my work as gifts for friends, and family. However, in order to start trying to make a living from art, i need to come up with prices. I have no experience in putting a price on art, so i was wondering if any of you could help me figure out where to start. cheers Harry
